Stop. Just stop. Caring is overrated.
Stop caring about your image. Stop caring about rumors. Stop caring about what other people think. Stop defending your reputation. Stop wasting time answering to those who don’t hold your eternity in their hands.
Stop playing games with manipulative people. Stop jumping through hoops to make people happy who will never be happy. Stop wasting time trying to please those who cannot be pleased.
Stop caring about things that do not matter. Instead, care about the things that do.
Care about being obedient to God. In the end, we answer to His calling alone.
Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'” (Luke 4:8)
If you take that seriously at all, you know this is not license to do whatever you want. To answer to Him is to answer to the One who knows every thought in your head, every emotion in your heart, and every deed done by your hands. This is not a cop-out. It is to care about the right things.
Care not about your reputation, but your character. Then your reputation will work itself out.
Care not about others’ opinions and how they might lift you up, but instead care ABOUT THEM unconditionally. Love them as Christ loved them.
Stop caring (about what pleases you)…
…and START caring (about what pleases God).
“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” (Colossians 3:2)
